Microbiology
2025-ongoing
Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the pharmaceutical and medical aspects of microbiology, virology, mycology, and parasitology. Students will gain fundamental knowledge of the structure, function, genetics, and taxonomy of medically important bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeasts, and parasites.
The course also introduces the principles of good laboratory and manufacturing practice (GLP and GMP) relevant to pharmaceutical microbiology. Emphasis is placed on the mechanisms of infection, prevention, prophylaxis, and treatment of infectious diseases, as well as on clinically significant infections encountered in human medicine.
Microbiology - practical course
2025-ongoing
Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic
This course complements the theoretical Microbiology lectures through hands-on laboratory training. Students are introduced to essential microbiological techniques and experimental methods used in pharmaceutical and medical microbiology. Preparatory lectures and seminars provide the necessary theoretical background for laboratory exercises.
Each student independently prepares and submits laboratory protocols summarizing the procedures, observations, and results of the experiments.
