Kick-starting a New Research Group at Masaryk University with MASH StG/CoG Funding
I am honored to share that I have been awarded the MASH StG/CoG grant from the Grant Agency of Masaryk University (GAMU), following a rigorous two-round selection process. This highly competitive four-year funding will support me in establishing a new research group at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Molecular Pharmacy. Out of nine awardees, only two were women, which makes this recognition particularly meaningful.
Our research will focus on extremophiles, particularly cold-adapted microorganisms, applying computational approaches to explore their unique biosynthetic potential and adaptations. We aim to uncover how these organisms generate novel compounds by examining the divergence of their pathways at the genetic, biosynthetic, and chemical levels, and to evaluate how this untapped chemistry can be harnessed as a source of next-generation bioactive molecules, including new antimicrobials.
In the near future, our group will move together with the entire Faculty of Pharmacy into the newly built BioPharmaHub at the Masaryk University campus. I am very much looking forward to close, interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues from the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, RECETOX, and CEITEC.
