Our GACR funded project is in the news!

Our research on RiPPs (ribosomally-synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides) from Antarctic soil microbiomes, supported by the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR), project ID: 25-17343S, was recently featured in Czech national media. In an interview for iRozhlas, we discussed our research together with my PhD student Peter—who recently relocated to the Czech Republic after research stays in Austria and the United Kingdom.
We described how extreme Antarctic environments drive the evolution of highly specialised microbial metabolites, why RiPPs from these ecosystems may hold unique biomedical potential, and how ecological context shapes their functions. The article also touches on the broader implications of our work for understanding microbial chemistry and for supporting clinicians in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
Here you will find link to the full article and the accompanying podcast. And here and here are our recent TV news appearances. All materials are available only in Czech.
